I joined L'Ateneu de Fabricacio de Gracia to laser-cut a design I'd just drawn. Getting access meant registering as a member and passing the laser safety course first, then picking up Rhino for the design work.
I learned to position the laser and use a metal depth gauge to calibrate against the material. My first cut on 8mm stock, the machine's maximum, didn't go all the way through, so I popped the design out by hand and noted I'd need thinner material next time. The design still holds up.
