Our shredder has landed at the Fablab studio, built locally by Mikel at FACTO Lab Barcelona with finance and mentoring support from Aziza. It shreds recycled plastic into chips that can be remodelled into anything, and we are aiming for a sheet press next to manufacture just about anything.
I have been co-leading the studio with Pep, a creator learner who documents the work and brings real determination for sustainable design. Local partners donate plastic to keep the machine fed.
It sits alongside plenty else across the studios: a song collaboration with Eswatini Lilima School, a learner-led cooking menu with a new fermenter for tempeh, slow-fashion bags from old jeans, coding, circus and science.
